My Name is Derek Vail and I’m a Senior Home Mortgage Consultant with Cornerstone First Mortgage. My partner and I operate the LA branch together and have about 22 loan officers on our team. I started in home mortgage working for one of the big banks, but ultimately did not like the fact that I was limited to just their products. Whereas now, I have many different and more creative options I can chose from and offer clients. As people come from many different situations, one size does not fit all in this business. This is why I’m glad we can offer a variety of lending options both in the traditional and non-traditional space. As an example, with more and more people being self-employed, we have many unique options that cater to them specifically where they would not otherwise get approved with a big bank. So my joy really comes from being able to provide unique and ideal lending options for both the traditional and non-traditional home buyer, while helping them remain competitive in this market with a 17-21 day escrow.
